Farm Stand – January 23 & 24, 2010

Meet Caroline, she’s an occasional volunteer here at Tonopah Rob’s Vegetable Farm. Caroline is a vegetarian (although secretly admits to eating fish from time to time) and she just loves fresh all-natural organic vegetables. She’s been coming out to the Farm Stand for the last couple of years and before that she and her husband would visit me when I sold at other markets. She, like so many others I’ve heard from, did not enjoy going to otherĀ Farmers Markets because there appeared to be more crafts than food and was thrilled when she learned she could come right out to the farm and buy veggies that in some cases were picked just hours before. Well, now she helps pick her own food and is seen here harvesting lettuce. While Phoenix may have its fair share of Farmers Markets it is a rarity that shoppers have the chance to visit the farm where their produce is grown but that is exactly what I offer out here at Tonopah Rob’s Vegetable Farm. You may not have the time to volunteer but you certainly are welcome to visit the farm, shop at the Farm Stand on Saturday, and take a farm tour to see just where and how I grow my all-natural fruits and veggies. And for those of you with children, the turkeys wandering the farm have been a delight for one and all – give them a loud gobble, they’ll probably gobble back at you!

The veggie list for this weekend out at the farm on Saturday and then on Sunday at theĀ Ace Hardware parking lot on Estrella Parkway will be as follows:

  • Salad Mix
  • Chard
  • Spinach
  • Carrots
  • Daikon Radish
  • Salad Sweeties
  • Watermelon Radishes
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Cilantro
  • Rosemary
  • Dill
  • Lemons
  • Grapefruit
  • Oranges
  • and super wonderful all-natural free range cage free EGGS

If you should require help in finding the farm or the Sunday market out on Estrella Pkwy, you’ll find details in the link above regarding directions to the farm or you may call me at 623-386-3033, I’ll be more than happy to help you get more lost than lost.
