Farm Stand – January 16 & 17, 2010

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MY BLOG! Tonopahrob dot com is two years old today. Over this time I have posted one hundred thirty-eight entries here and hardly a week goes by that someone doesn’t stop to compliment me on what they have seen or read on my site. A giant heart felt hug to all of you who’ve left a positive comment, told me how after reading my blog or seeing the beautiful photos that they were inspired to visit my farm, and to those of you have told others to visit the farm blog. It is not always easy to find the time between everything else that goes on in the life of a farmer to sit down in front of the computer and dig out the words that can fertilize the minds of my visitors so an interest might sprout and bring them out my way. But so often the kind words of encouragement and stories of how the fruits and veggies from my farm have made someone’s life a little better in some small way help till the dry old dirt in my head to grow a new thought or inspiration that I can share with readers. Thank you, visitors to the Tonopah Rob website and Farm Stand.

Today’s photo is the inside of my hoop house. On the left are rows of strawberries that for those of you who know my strawberries, well, you just wait, they are on their way. On the right of the hoop house are various seedlings ranging from chilies to lettuce. Over these frequent cold days where on many an early morning we have dipped in to the 20′s out here in Tonopah, this hoop house is a life saver that allows me to get a head start in my planting by sprouting seeds when it would be too cold to put them in the ground. As plots are cleared and the weather warms over the next days, many of these trays will be emptied and their sprouts planted in the still chilly air, so that come March and April all new veggies will be on offer here at my farm. But now on to the serious business of what will be available this coming weekend, January 16 and 17 at the farm here in Tonopah on Saturday and at the Farm Stand on Sunday at Ace Hardware on Estrella Parkway:

It was the first time I visited this fresh market, I just LOVED it. Thank you for all the fresh veggies and the eggs… I am an egg lover, and these were just GREAT. Hope to see you next week.

If only you were closer to Prescott…we have nothing like it up here! We will be coming down to see you soon…we are in withdrawal. We crave Heirloom Spinach, eggs, chard, carrots, etc. etc.Cannot imagine using spinach from the store to make a salad…you have spoiled us! See you soon.
