Ready to Bloom

Peruvian Daffodil in bloom at Tonopah Rob's Vegetable Farm in Tonopah, Arizona

It’s almost time. The farm stand is to re-open shortly. The farm and natureĀ are working at near full capacity, producing veggies galore for this coming Saturday – you might say the farm is blooming. Most will easily find the beauty in this Peruvian Daffodil that has recently brought forth these elegant blossoms, signaling that life has fully returned to this previously sun scorched farm. But it is the multitude of maturing veggies that overwhelms my senses. This is a thrilling time of year and while the official start to the new year is still a couple of months away, for me the new year began with the sprouting of this season’s vegetables. The long summer is my winter. It is down time when little more than preparation for the approaching fall season will bring new plantings, nurturing, watering, harvest and finally the opportunity to bring a new year’s abundance to the visitors of my farm stand. So get ready to feast on a fall harvest when this coming Saturday, November 14th, starting at 8:00 a.m. I will once again be open for business and, while you won’t be munching on daffodils, I will be offering some of the best ingredients for farm fresh salads you are likely to find in all of Arizona. Of course that won’t be all….a full list of veggies will be posted here on Wednesday, unless I can’t contain myself and post them here tomorrow.
