Tomato Sale ~ Veggie List 6/4/16 ~ Summer Hours

This week at the farm stand there will be a huge amount of tomatoes.  If you are wanting to purchase in bulk, email in an order.  Minimum order is 25 lbs to get a price break.  There will be large, small cherries, green tomatoes, yellow, orange and red.  Bring your own bags, boxes or containers. The farm will not provide them for you.  Last week tomato prices were 3.50/lb.   This week, sale prices are, less than 10 lbs. 3.00 dollars a pound, up to 25 lbs. 2.50 per pound and over 25 lbs. 2.00/lb.  The tomatoes are delicious.  Reuse and recycle your egg cartons, shopping bags. Make sure they are in good condition, no trash, thank you.

When coming to the farm, credit and debit cards are no longer accepted.  It’s a cash and check only stand.  All returned checks will  cost a 50.00 dollar return fee.

The new summer hours will begin this weekend.  7 a.m. to 10 a.m. (officially) and will begin breaking down the farm stand and by 10:30 a.m. the stand will be closed.  Don’t be surprised if you show up after 10 a.m. and not much is on the tables.

Remember all CSA members have three weeks to use their shares and the season will end. There will be no extra weeks added onto the season.  The farm stand will be open until the end of July if the weather cooperates. After July, the farm will be closed.  There may be a once a month sale but again, it depends on the weather and again it’s a cash or check only market.

The farm is undergoing many changes.  The farm is discontinuing the CSA program and selling eggs. It is way too costly to raise chickens and sell eggs.  In order to make a nickel profit per dozen of eggs, each dozen must be sold for $7.79.  People already shake their heads at 6.00 dollars per dozen and to sell them for $8.00 a dozen….well!?

Honey will continue to be produced on a seasonal basis and will be available sometime in July.  Turkeys will be raised on a free range basis and sold alive to fatten for personal use. Whew! I got all of this out in one gigantic breath, I’m tired.  Below is the veggie list:
