Veggie List 4/16/2016 ~ Farm Update
Due to the high winds yesterday and this morning, Tonopah Rob has decided to not send tents and veggies to the Penlina Farmers Market. Yes, winds are still blowing 15/20 mph here at the farm at four in the morning. Knowingly, it would be negligent to send volunteers and helpers into a situation that could potentially be harmful so, better safe than broken bones and tents. The only locations open this weekend will be the farm stand in Tonopah open from 8 a.m. to noon and Sunday at Creative Living Fellowship from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All locations will resume as usual next weekend. Sorry for any inconvenience.
They’re here!!! Strawberries are ready and will be at the farm stand only.
As I walk around the farm, doing my daily inspections, I thought I would pass on a progress report to all of you. I’ve got some exciting news! As you can tell by the pictures, it’s berry season. Not only are strawberries in season but next week big juicy blackberries will also don the tables. For the next six to eight weeks berries will be apart of the weekly veggie list.
Tonopah Rob’s super sweet strawberries.
Towards the end of April, maybe mid May peaches will be ripe and ready for the tables. Apricots and apples will also ripen within that time frame too. Other crops will be showing up on the tables real soon like onions, summer squash and tomatoes.
The guys and I have been busy planting thousands of eggplant, peppers and cucumbers. Within a few more weeks more veggies will be ready for the pickin’s. Patience my fellow foodies, the farm can only give what is its ready to offer but when she releases her blessings be ready to indulge.
