City of Buckeye Farmers Market ~ Veggie List 2/28/15
Pictured here is greenhouse number one. All last week the farm was filled with people, whether on payroll or volunteering, everyone was busy pulling weeds, planting more crops, seeding trays for future transplants and transplanting summer crops. The Booger Plot is sharing space with brassicas and tomatoes. Keep you fingers crossed the weather stays way above freezing so the 1500 tomato plants continue to grow without interruption. Thank you to all of the folks whom donated their time and to those paid the farm looks beautiful.
Once again it’s time for the Buckeye Farmers Market. Last month Tonopah Rob closed the farm stand and moved the market to the Sundance Park in Buckeye, Arizona and he will do the same thing again. For this week only the farm stand will be closed and everyone who is contemplating a trip to the farm, please go to the Buckeye Farmers Market. This Saturday the market opens at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All CSA members from Prescott to Chandler, Harquahala, Tonopah and all over the valley please go to the Buckeye Farmers Market. Below are the directions to the Sundance Park.
Also, the Farm Fund Raiser Dinner is just around the corner. March 21, 2015 at 3:45 p.m. Tickets are 150.00 dollars per person. I know it sounds expensive but this is a fund-raiser. Tonopah Rob needs more people to step up and come to the dinner, it’s going to be a great night. Chef Wolf will be creating delicious dishes from the farm and Page Springs Winery has donated the wine, Pierre’s Prime Beef donated the brisket and it’s going to be a fun evening. The money will help purchase more fruit trees and pay for the aquaponic system that is now being installed.
For the dinner, there are certain items still needed if anyone would like to donate glassware for the wine, more dinnerware, silverware and more people to purchase tickets. Now is the time for those planning to attend the dinner to send in your check and pick up your tickets.
One of my CSA members cannot come to the dinner so they have donated a pair of tickets to raffle. If you want to take a chance on winning two dinner tickets the cost to enter is $20/per ticket or 6 tickets for 100.00 dollars. The raffle will be held the weekend before the dinner.
