MaMa Hen is nearly hidden behind Drumstick. Her game plan was to move all the toms toward the harem of hens. Chunky, Skunky, Sara and Clara were not at all interested in watching the toms fan and tilt lovey doveyness with their tales, they were more concerned about warming themselves up under the partly cloudy sky, last nights 15 degree temperature was so cold it took the sun until noon to thaw the whole farm.
How did she get here? This is One Eye. You can see her left eye is glazed over. Poor girl. Tonopah Rob decided to let her free range the farm until the day it’s decided to have her become “extra crispy”, he’s kidding! She will live out here happy life on the farm.
As usual, Hear No leads the show, the parade, the razzle dazzle or whatever you want to call it. And as usual, Hear No is always left out of the poultry games……….he’s not a good lover but he really is a good if not the best provider of all the toms. His height gives quite an advantage over the others when it comes to picking pomegranates from the highest lower branches of the trees.
Big Red. He’s the meanest of all mean toms. Over the past two years, it’s been quite a struggle to calm his red feather butt down. He spent quite a bit of life in a rickety built pen with a few hens. The conditions were terrible. Red and the hens were poorly fed, you could see evidence of malnutrition in their feather color. Red has anger issues, but his freedom to free range the farm has softened him up a little. Hear No is captain of the team, Romeo is second and third is Big Red.
On their way to the flock of hens, they pause while MaMa Hen begins her circle dance, again! This time she hoopla’s between Drumstick and Romeo. She’s a problem solver. What a way to stop two toms from fighting, dance between them and fluff feathers….
